WAX STRIPS

Why can’t diabetics use wax strips?

Diabetes can cause the skin to thin. Diabetics also have poor circulation - therefore bruising and tearing can result from waxing.

Why do I have wax residue left on my skin?
  • The wax strips have not been heated sufficiently.
  • The wax strips were left on your skin for too long before removing – remember once you have smoothed the wax strip firmly onto your skin you must remove it IMMEDIATLEY
Solution: Re-apply the same strip in the usual way then pull the strip off in the same direction as it was applied. Use the Azulene post wax sachet to soothe the skin and remove any remaining wax residue. Do not wash off with water.

Why does the wax remain on the plastic strip and not transfer to the body?
The strip wasn’t warmed sufficiently. Solution: Fold strip in half and rub vigourously before reapplying

Why is my skin bruised / irritated after waxing?
  • If the area is repeatedly waxed, over a short space of time, the skin can bruise and become irritated.
  • It is vital for the skin to be held taut to prevent any movement of the skin when the strip is removed.
  • When pulling back the strip it is crucial that the wax strip is pulled back, directly parallel to the skin and not upwards. Pulling upwards may result in bruising, or breaking the hair and not removing the hair with the root.
  • Always apply a soothing oil, cream or gel (eg. Aloe Vera) after waxing.
Why has the hair not been removed?
The following points need to be adhered to for the hair to be removed effectively:
  • The hair needs to be at least 2- 4mm long before it is removed.
  • The skin must be clean, dry and oil free before waxing.
  • The skin must be held taut when removing the strips.
  • The strip must be pulled off in the opposite direction of hair growth.
  • The strip must be removed in one quick motion – not too slowly.
  • The strip must not be removed upwards but must be kept parallel and close to the skin.
  • The wax on the strips must be heated sufficiently, by rubbing the strips vigorously or by using a hair dryer.

HARD WAX

The wax jar melted during microwave heating. Why?
The microwave jars are industry standard and designed to withstand micro-waves. Sometimes faulty microwave ovens which don’t have even micro-wave distribution can cause a “drilling” effect to occur. The wax may have been over heated (i.e. correct time was not adhered to).

My skin burnt during waxing. What did I do wrongly?
The wax was applied when too hot. The wax temperature should be tested on the inside of your wrist before you begin waxing.

Can you use the Hard Wax in an electronic heating unit?
No – the wax is formulated for microwave heating only.

The wax became too brittle and I could not remove it. Why not?
You may have applied it too thinly or have waited too long. Apply another layer of wax over the wax on your skin. The new layer of warm wax will heat up the bottom layer and make it easier to remove. Small amounts of wax can be removed using baby oil, olive oil or body lotion.

FILM WAX

My skin burnt during waxing. What did I do wrongly?
The wax was applied when too hot. The temperature of the wax should be tested prior to waxing, with the heat sensitive wand. If the green wand turns yellow it means that the wax is too hot to apply to the skin.

Can you use the Film Wax in an electronic heating unit?
No – the wax is formulated for microwave heating only.

The wax became too brittle and I could not remove it. Why not?
Film wax has special ingredients to make it easy to peel off and less brittle than other waxes. You probably waited too long for it to set. Apply another layer of film wax over the wax on your skin. The new layer of warm film wax will heat up the bottom layer and make it easier to remove. Small amounts of wax can be removed using baby oil, olive oil or body lotion.

LAVENDER WAX

Can you use Lavender Wax in a microwave?
No - it has been specially formulated for stovetop heating only.

Can you use Lavender Wax in a salon pot?
Yes – you can use the Lavender Refill pack. Pop out the required amount and heat in the heating unit

CRÈME BLEACHES

Why would I use a bleach rather than a wax?
Sometimes complete hair removal can look unnatural, this is especially true for face and arms. Julienne Creme Bleaches are a painless and an inexpensive way of fading unsightly hair to blend in with your natural skin colour.

What do I do if my hair is VERY dark?
In the case of extremely dark and stubborn hair, two applications may be necessary. If so, 24 hours must be allowed before the second application.

How long does the crème bleach remain active for, once mixed?
The creme remains active for 30 minutes.

Will my skin feel dry and damaged after bleaching?
No, Julienne Creme Bleaches contain moisturising agents which protect, soothe and hydrate the skin.

The Bleach is not working… what could be wrong?
It may be that the creme was not left on for long enough. If the hair is very dark, apply the mixture, wait 10 minutes then remove creme and wait for 12 hours before reapplying fresh creme. Contamination may have occurred…causing the bleach to go “flat.” Contamination is caused by water, dust or heat or from the mixture being in contact with metal. Always use the plastic mixing tray and spatula provided. Keep the jars or tubes tightly closed when not in use and store away from sunlight in a cool place.

When I use the bleach I feel a stinging sensation…what’s wrong?
A slightly prickly sensation is normal. The hair can be bleached in two stages with a 12-hour rest period before the second application. If the skin is still too sensitive, treatment must be discontinued.

Small pigmentation marks have appeared on my skin. Why is this?
This very rarely happens and occurs when too much activator powder is used or when the skin is drier than usual. Darker skins are also more prone to this. No permanent damage will have occured and marks will disappear after a few days. Apply a soothing, moisturising cream to the affected area.
